Social, Scientific & Professional Development Events: For our recently joined members who had only a few opportunities to meet other people due to ongoing pandemic, this year we first organized a virtual game night “Escape Room” event to foster interaction among new DHEST members from different institutes by having fun and solving exciting mysteries together!

As the pandemic restrictions eased in the second half of 2021, we decided to organize an in-person event and initiated a “Science Communication Workshop Series” in collaboration with Dr. Samer Angelone from the Swiss Science Film Academy and Science Film Festival. Our first workshop was “Storytelling & Storyboarding Science” which aimed to teach communication strategies and techniques, engage the audience, and increase uptake from the masters of narrative, ‘the filmmakers’. Participants re-wrote their biographies, abstracts, and presentations using learned narrative attributes and earned 1 ECTS.
